๐Ÿ“š Book Vending Machine Success at DES! ๐Ÿฆ…

Our new Book Vending Machine has been a huge hit at DES! Today, SRO Bennett helped a student pick out a book after she was โ€œCaught Doing Good.โ€ Moments like these make celebrating positive choices even more special.

We love recognizing our Eagles for the great things they do every day. Keep up the amazing work!

๐Ÿฆ… Great job, Eagles!

Weโ€™re loving all of our guest readers this week for Read Across America Week! ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

Today, Superintendent Runey visited Mrs. Duarteโ€™s Grade 4 class to read Where to Hide a Star by Oliver Jeffers, sharing a wonderful story that sparked imagination and curiosity. Earlier this week, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Souza read the hilarious picture book I Donโ€™t Want to Read This Book by Max Greenfield to Ms. Cornellโ€™s Kindergarten class, filling the room with laughter and excitement.

We are so appreciative of our guest readers for taking the time to visit our students and celebrate the joy of reading. Moments like these help empower, ignite, and shape a lifelong love of learning in our schools. ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š

Thank you to everyone who helped make this week so special!

Today our Grade 1 students had a very special visitor as part of Read Across America Week! We were thrilled to welcome Representative Thurber, who joined us to read "The Book with No Pictures" by B.J. Novak.

Our students were fully engaged, laughing and participating as Rep. Thurber truly brought the book to life with his enthusiasm and expression. The fun didnโ€™t stop there โ€” he enjoyed the story so much that he stayed to read it again during Mrs. Grilloโ€™s Grade 4 library class!

Thank you, Rep. Thurber, for visiting DES, sharing your time with our students, and helping us celebrate the joy of reading. Experiences like this inspire a love of books that lasts a lifetime!

Superintendent Runey was recently interviewed by WJAR/Turn to 10 as part of a broader conversation on recent studies showing statewide enrollment declines. In the interview, he shares how Dighton-Rehoboth is responding proactively by reengaging families and expanding opportunities for students through academics, Early College classes, CTE pathways, and strong arts and athletic programs. #WeAreDR #DT2030 #EIS ๐ŸŽฅ Watch the interview: https://youtu.be/M70aNNEN9Iw
